Can we talk about this dairy-free pesto for 1 second?
The pesto of all the pesto dreams, this Super Antioxidant Dairy-free Pesto Sauce was a creation that we whipped up using Veggie Pucks, and we’re now so obsessed with it, we are deliberately creating meals that have a pesto element, just so we have an excuse to eat this pesto.
The most amazing thing about this pesto though, is the fact that you wouldn’t know there are 5 servings of green vegetables in it, and they are the liver loving and supporting ones as well. One green puck consists of: spinach, kale, collards, dandelion greens and parsley! What?! How can you get more whole food nutrition into one recipe, really though?
DAIRY-FREE PESTO SAUCE IS TOTALLY VEGAN!
If you’re used to traditional pesto recipes, then you would know that they contain parmesan, and combined with the nutty taste from pine nuts, and the floral taste of basil, this is what makes pesto such an amazing condiment to use in your cooking. And, although we are totally on board with a small amount of dairy, we like to try and re-create recipes sans dairy, in order to reduce our animal product consumption where we can.
And, in our books, if a recipe turns out just as good (if not better) than their animal product containing counterpart, then we would much rather go completely plant-based.
The Nutritional Yeast Makes Everything Cheesy
You’ll be happy to hear that this dairy-free pesto sauce is completely vegan, uses cashews instead of pine nuts (so much more cost affordable), and uses nutritional yeast in place of parmesan to get that cheesy, delicious, creamy taste. Suffice to say, we will be putting this sh!t on EVERYTHING!

Super Antioxidant Cashew Pesto (Vegan)
This Antioxidant Cashew Pesto is the pesto of all pesto! It’s jam packed with 5 servings of vegetables, is vegan, uses cashews instead of pine nuts, and is so delicious, you’ll be addicted and want to lather it on everything.
- 1 green veggie puck if you don’t have access to pucks add in 2 cups packed mixed dandelion/ spinach/ parsley greens- even ratio
- 8-10 basil leaves
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1/4 cup cashews
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
- 1 lemon juiced
- 1/2-1 tsp salt
- Place everything in a blender, food processor or Kitchen aid hand blender and puree until smooth and creamy.
