Inside Scoop: A safer alternative, here are the numerous benefits of CBD hemp oil for women.

This post was submitted by Adam Kemp, professional basketball player and advocate for the health benefits of cannabidiol (CBD) and hemp products.

For those of you who haven’t heard of it yet, cannabidiol is quickly emerging as one of the best holistic health medication options.

Cannabidiol (CBD) has become increasingly prominent as an alternative health medication throughout the last year or two as people are realizing pharmaceutical medications have too many lasting side-effects.

I have used CBD products to help manage pain from a serious back injury during my most recent professional basketball season, as well as involuntary motor tics caused by Tourette’s Syndrome.

If you are interested in learning more about the various benefits of CBD hemp oil for women and whether or not it is right for you, keep reading below!

What is Cannabidiol?

Cannabidiol is a cannabinoid found on the cannabis plant, but it does not contain any psychoactive effects. Unlike the compound THC, CBD is safe for use and has no potential for addiction. When many people hear the word “cannabis,” they instantly think about the high caused by the psychoactive compound Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

Many people do not know this, but there are many cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Currently, there are over 80 different known cannabinoids- and there are potentially even over 200! Depending on the type of cannabis plant you are looking at, the ratio and amount of each cannabinoid are different. For example, hemp is a member of the cannabis plant family, but it has a naturally low THC content (under .3% THC). Contrarily, marijuana can contain over 25% THC.

Each cannabinoid found on the cannabis plant has different health benefits, but CBD is the cannabinoid which has many people the most excited!

Although there are many amazing benefits of CBD hemp oil, there are many benefits specifically important for women!

CANNABIDIOL FOR CHRONIC PAIN

One of the biggest issues with CBD is a lack of conclusive research data since CBD has been a Schedule-1 Drug in the United States for far too long. However, there are still enough research studies that have shown enough evidence to back claims about the benefits of CBD.

One of the most common uses for CBD products is for the management of chronic pain, which was the original reason I tried CBD myself.

Although it is yet to be medically confirmed, research has shown that CBD is an effective pain management product. After researching the therapeutic potential of CBD for neuropathic and inflammatory pain, a study produced in the European Journal of Pharmacology concluded that “results indicate a potential for therapeutic use of cannabidiol in chronic painful states.”

Although it is only anecdotal, I was able to successfully replace a regimen of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and corticosteroid injections after I suffered a Pars Fracture of my spine with CBD alone.

Regardless of the reason for the pain you are in, CBD has shown true evidence as an incredible, natural pain-reliever.

There’s so much confusion when it comes to scientifically-backed supplements for women. You can download the Complete Supplement Guide below that outlines the best supplements and brands according to science.

CBD FOR PREMENSTRUAL SYNDROME

I would love to be able to say that CBD can treat PMS symptoms conclusively, but sadly the research is not ready yet. However, many women are turning to CBD as an aid to relieve painful symptoms of PMS.

Although there are other potential beneficial aspects as well, a few PMS symptoms CBD has shown the ability to improve are:

  • Cramps and pain related to cramps
  • Headaches
  • Anxiety, Stress, Irritability
  • Insomnia or sleeplessness

A 2010 study produced in the Journal of Psychopharmacology researched the anxiolytic effects of CBD, and whether it has calming effects or not. The subjects analyzed suffered from clinically diagnosed social anxiety disorder,

“CBD reduces anxiety in SAD and that this is related to its effects on activity in limbic and paralimbic brain areas.”

Although it is not entirely congruent with the irritability, anxiety, stress, and other mood changes associated with PMS, the potential is certainly there! You can read more about CBD supplements and stress here.

As stated in a 2015 study published in the Journal of Head and Face Pain, “Despite the limited evidence and research suggesting a role for cannabis and cannabinoids in some headache disorders, randomized clinical trials are lacking and necessary for confirmation and further evaluation.”

There are many potential explanations for the reason CBD is effective for headaches (including the headaches caused by PMS), but the growing opinion is that it’s a natural option for headache relief.

For women who have difficulty sleeping when experiencing symptoms of PMS, CBD is potentially an excellent (but complex) answer. Cannabidiol has shown through multiple different research studies to induce alertness, which is contrary to a good night of rest. However, it can improve sleep quality if used earlier in the day.

One of the most important functions of all cannabinoids is regulating our endocannabinoid system, which has powerful effects on our sleep cycle. According to the 2016 study “Endocannabinoid Signaling Regulates Sleep Stability,” research supports the hypothesis that signaling the endocannabinoid system through the use of CB1 receptors (Type-1 cannabinoids) is necessary for non-rapid eye movement sleep stability.

If you want a deep-sleep, cannabinoids are an excellent way to do so. Since CBD does have mildly stimulating properties, you should use CBD earlier in the day, and it will (potentially) improve your ability to fall asleep and sleep through the night naturally.

There are many other benefits of CBD which science is rapidly learning about, but these are a couple of the most important benefits of CBD for women!

Concluding Thoughts on the Benefits of CBD Hemp Oil for Women

As more research is consistently uncovered, it is clear that CBD is an excellent natural health product for many people. However, finding quality CBD products can be confusing.

CBD products are rapidly becoming more popular because they are a safe alternative to pharmaceutical medications, and they work far-better in many situations. According to a recent survey of over 2,400 individuals, “43% of CBD-dominant and hemp-derived CBD users now use cannabis instead of other medications to treat their conditions.”

For women, there are many other potential benefits. One of the more unique benefits of CBD hemp oil for women yet to be explored is pregnancy and child-bearing. Although there is some initial evidence, it is not enough to comment on at the moment. However, it has shown to be effective through various research studies and anecdotal accounts as having beneficial effects for PMS symptoms.

Cannabidiol is a very exciting product for women, and the possibilities are only beginning!

Disclaimer. CBD oil and medical marijuana are in their early stages of research, and further testing is definitely needed to validate both medical marijuana and CBD use. Some side effects, such as lethargy and gastrointestinal issues have been reported with CBD, so make sure to speak to your medical doctor to discuss your condition before deciding to supplement.

Hi Dawn, accumulating evidence is starting to suggest that CBD can actually be beneficial for heart disease https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3579247/ – however, because CBD is still in it’s preliminary research stages, we 100% recommend talking to your doctor first, before starting new supplement routine.

There are many places where you could purchase CBD oil, so there’s no reason why you shouldn’t take advantage of it.

Absolutely, which makes it even more important to ensure it’s high quality and to check with a qualified professional for interactions with medications etc.
