Inside Scoop: Both adults and kids will fall in love with these Berry Turmeric & Citrus Immune Boosting Gummies.
For some reason I have wanted to get into the gummy-making game for a very long time now (especially with a 2 year old), but just haven’t.
Why’s that? No clue.
Check it out – homemade gummies (like these amazing immune boosting gummies) are so simple to make once you get the hang of how to do it.
All in all, take pureed fruit, a liquid, gelatin and a sweetener and you have the base of a gummy recipe.
My daughter has been gobbling these immune boosting gummies up, they are way better for her than high sugar treats, and they contain some pretty amazing immune boosting health benefits like turmeric, vitamin c, and antioxidants.
How to make immune boosting gummies, step-by-step guide
This video will give a quick little demo on how I made these immune boosting gummies, I would definitely recommend giving it a quick watch because once you do it once, you’ll have a handle on it for life.
Another thing I should mention with homemade gummies is that you’re not going to be getting the consistency of a ‘store-bought’ gummy bear. These immune boosting gummies turn out with more of a jello consistency. I suspect these gummies need more starch to get that ‘store-bought’ feel. I did test them with tapioca starch and they still didn’t come out the way I thought.
SOOOO I will be playing with this recipe a bit more and do another recipe post in the near future when I figure out how to make the consistency more traditional gummy-bear- like. If you know what I mean?
Other than that, read on for my top tips for creating these Immune Boosting Gummy Bears:

Step 1: Puree Your Fruit
To create these immune boosting gummies you will need as close to liquid as possible. I find the more ‘fiber’ or ‘chunks’ in these gummies, the less likely they are to get the right kind of gummy texture.
I generally puree about 1 cup of fruit with 1/2 cup of coconut water or filtered water and make these gummies in batches.
Step 2: Find your sweetener
Just fruit puree and gelatin combined together will not create the most appetizing gummy bears. I would highly recommend finding a suitable sweetener for these. Whether it’s liquid stevia, monkfruit, maple syrup, or if you really want to get a solid immune system boost, try manuka honey.
Step 3: Get the right ratio
I’ve found that 1 cup liquid combined with 4 Tbsp gelatin is a good ratio for these gummies. More gelatin the less flavour you will get, less gelatin, the less likely it will sit properly.
I also find that combining a puree with juice creates a much nicer consistency as well. What has been working best for me is doing about 3/4 cup fruit puree with 1/4 cup lemon or orange juice.
So far the blueberry lemon combination has worked the best.
Step 4: Bloom your gelatin
Okay, this is an important step!!!
Blooming gelatin simply means to soak your gelatin in cold water prior to adding it to your warm liquid. The reason why you want to bloom gelatin to make these immune boosting gummies is because it removes the chunks and creates an even spread throughout your finished recipe.
I dissolve (and whisk slowly) 4 Tbsp of gelatin into 1/2 cup of water and let it sit for 3-5 minutes before adding it to your warmed pureed fruit.
I also buy Great Lakes Gelatin which is made with pasture-raised grass fed cattle.
Step 5: Warm your fruit puree and add gelatin for final product
All you need to do is heat your pureed fruit/ fruit juice and sweetener in a saucepan until it gets hot. Try not to overheat or boil the puree, and when it starts to form small bubbles this is your cue to remove from heat.
Then add bloomed gelatin and let it fully dissolve (whisk for about 1 minute) and pour into your moulds.
You can either buy moulds on Amazon – these are the dinosaur ones I use for my daughter, is it weird that she finds pure pleasure in biting the head off of a dinosaur?
Or you can simply oil a loaf pan and add the gelatin mixture into it, when it’s set just lift the side with a knife and it should peel out effortlessly.
Health Benefits Of Immune Boosting Gummies
So, pretty simple steps, and you can consistently have gummies that boost your immune system all year long.
Not only do these immune boosting gummies contain turmeric, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory, but they contain fruit that contains antioxidants, like blueberries and raspberries, as well as juice from citrus, which contains a high amount of Vitamin C (one of those infamous immune boosting vitamins).
Another health benefit of homemade gummies that is often overlooked comes from the nutritional benefits that gelatin actually contains.
Gelatin is just another wonderful way to get your intake of collagen in. It’s great for your hair, skin, nails, and also contains plenty of amino acids, which are essential for making protein and providing us with energy.
Gelatin contains glycine, which helps to keep the mucosal lining of our intestinal system nice and healthy, making it a wonderful gut food.
An easy recipe for you, your sweet tooth, your kids, that is 100% a healthy alternative, providing you with some really awesome immune boosting benefits.

Berry Turmeric Immune Boosting Gummies (5 simple steps)
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup berries frozen
- 1/2 cup coconut water or filtered water
- 4 Tbsp gelatin grass fed
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 Tbsp maple syrup raw honey or cane sugar
- 1/4 cup orange juice lemon juice or lime juice
- 1/2 tsp turmeric or 1/2 tsp turmeric depending on how sensitive you are to the taste
Directions
- ** I would definitely recommend reading the above 5 steps on how to do get these right. They will most likely turn into gummies no matter what, but those steps just ensure you're getting the best consistency with them.
Take the frozen berries and puree them with the coconut water in a high powered blender. Blend until they are smooth and as close to liquid as you can get them. You cana dd 1 Tbsp of water at a time if you need to, to get them to this point. - If you are using a liquid sweetener, add to your pureed fruit, as well as the turmeric.
In a medium saucepan add 3/4 cup of your fruit puree, 1/4 cup citrus juice (see notes for my favourite combinations), and if you need your blend to be sweeter, add sweetness as desired. Slowly heat this puree until small bubbles form, but not any hotter than that.
- Meanwhile, bloom your gelatin (see above in steps) by slowly adding the gelatin to water by whisking it together. Make sure there are no white chunks.
- Once bloomed and puree warmed, add the gelatin to the saucepan and whisk until all the gelatin chunks have dissolved.
- Immediately add to your moulds, or to a loaf pan that has been pre-oiled.
- Let sit for minimum 2 hours.
- I find the longer these sit in the fridge, the harder they get.
Recipe Notes
Notes: Blueberry puree + lemon juice or lime juice Raspberry + lemon juice Raspberry + orange juice Blackberry + orange juice Strawberry + orange juice ** so far blubberry holds the nicest in moulds
