When the summer hits hard and all you want are easy to put together treats that take minimal prep work but taste damn delicious, you hit up those raw bites.

These raw brownie bites are made with only 5 ingredients and can be whipped up in less than 5 minutes with a food processor (see our choice below). They’re one of our favourite treats especially when we’re craving something chocolatey but filling and something that we can create in a large batch and store in our freezers. Another one of our delicious N5Diet recipes, and a recipe that matches our 5-ingredient obsession is this Peanut Butter Fudge.

These raw brownie bites are for those days where you don’t want to turn on the oven or put much effort into cooking, but you still want something amazing to eat.

RAW BROWNIE BITES WITH WHOLESOME INGREDIENTS

When we think brownie the idea of decadent, rich, moist and really heavy on the sugar, flour and butter pops into our minds. These brownie bites definitely contain the decadent and rich part, but contain zero flour, zero refined sugars and zero dairy.

Instead, they are made with wholesome ingredients that are loaded with nutrition and keep you feeling full and satisfied.

Nut Flour

We love making raw treats (especially these raw brownie bites) by processing whole nuts into flours. Nuts are a great alternative to flour, especially when mixed in a raw treat with chewy and sticky dates. Dates + nut flours are actually one of the perfect combinations for desserts as they are high healthy fats and contain no added sugars but have a chewy and sweet taste. They also are great for keeping you feeling full. Walnuts or pecans are the perfect pair for these brownie bites.

Dates

Dates are perfect for making desserts, especially brownies. There’s hardly a taste of dates when they’re combined with cacao powder. Instead, a sweet chocolate taste is created that has a nice caramel finish. Dates do contain quite a fair amount of natural sugars, but they are a much better alternative to refined or processed sugar because they also contain fiber and plenty of beneficial nutrients.

Cacao Powder

You know us, we love chocolate. These raw brownie bites wouldn’t be the same without organic, cacao powder. Such a simple addition can create the world of flavor when combined with the right ingredients. Chocolatey, sweet, and so delicious.

Dark Chocolate Chips

What really elevates these raw brownie bites is the simple addition of chocolate chips. We go for sustainably sourced, organic cacao, and fair-trade because that’s just the way you gotta do chocolate. And there are plenty of options that you can find on Amazon.

As you can see these brownie bites are created with simple and wholesome ingredients, are incredibly easy to put together and are the perfect large-batch treat that you will love going to over and over again. Plus, only 5 ingredients really make them the perfect treat. Looking for more 5 ingredient recipes? Download your 5-Ingredient cookbook below.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup walnut flour or pecan *see directions
  • 1 cup dates approximately 22
  • 1.5 Tbsp cacao powder
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

Directions

  1. Place 1.5 cups of raw walnuts or pecans in a food processor and process until it turns to a flour. Be sure not to over process or else it turns to nut butter. Remove all of the flour and add 1/2 cup back into the processor (you’ll have extra flour for later, or you can double the batch).
  2. Add the remaining ingredients into the food processor and process until you get a big ball of brownie batter (should roll together nicely).
  3. Use 1 Tbsp and roll into balls, or a cookie scooper. Place balls on parchment lined plate and freeze for 1-2 hours. If it’s too dry, add more dates. If it’s too wet, add more flour.
