Inside Scoop: This gluten-free turkey burger is the perfect healthy alternative to the classic beef burger.

We’re not saying that just plain ground turkey in the form of a grill-able burger isn’t awesome, but, when you try this Gluten-Free Turkey Burger that’s loaded with feta, green onion, and fresh oregano, you’re going to wonder where this recipe has been your whole life!

Oh yeah, and how simple can it be?

There’s this idea that heading down to the grocery store and buying store bought burgers is a much easier thing to do then make your own, but really, what does a burger consist of?

Ground meat?

Some spices and herbs?

Maybe some chopped veggies?

And, if you’re lucky… some cheese?

It’s a simple equation of taking ground meat and rolling it all up with some exciting flavours, and then grilling. NEARLY as easy as store bought burgers, DEFINITELY way healthier than store bought burgers.

What’s Good About This Gluten-Free Turkey Burger

 

This gluten-free turkey burger is beyond delicious. It’s made with whole-food based ingredients, is the perfect beef alternative, and will be a huge crowd pleaser, especially at a BBQs. Stuffed with feta, and spring onion, and only contains 4 ingredients so it’s incredibly easy to whip up on a whim, and perfect party favour.

This gluten-free turkey burger also contains all kinds of healthy ingredients, such as turkey…. naturally.

Turkey (especially in the dark meat state) contains plenty of beneficial nutrients, such as B6, B12, Niacin, Choline, Selenium and Zinc! A lot of those vitamins and minerals are vital for brain function, energy and immunity.

This delicious gluten-free turkey burger is also:

  • High in protein
  • Can be made gluten or grain free (suitable for paleo or grain free diets)
  • High in healthy fats
  • A great red meat substitute

Our new, favourite, go-to summer grilling dish! Gluten-Free Feta Turkey Burger

This gluten-free turkey burger is the perfect healthy alternative to the classic beef burger, and is loaded with feta, spring onion and fresh oregano.

Ingredients

  • 24 oz ground turkey lean (about 1 pack)
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese goat is nice as well
  • 3 tsp oregano dried or 1.5 Tbsp fresh chopped and packed
  • 4 green onions chopped
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp pepper

Directions

  1. Mix turkey and feta, oregano and pepper to taste.
  2. Form into a patty and grill on each side for about 7 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 165F. Top with mustard and a slice of avocado and serve over a spinach salad or on a gluten-free (or whole grain if you’re not gluten sensitive) bun. Enjoy!

Notes: here are some other ways you can change up this burger: Replace turkey with chicken Trade feta for goat cheese Add chopped roasted red pepper or chopped sun dried tomatoes Add celery for crunch Add raw onion Tip: these freeze well, so make a batch and freeze them individually so you can pull them out in the morning and cook them for dinner.
