Inside Scoop: Are you struggling to stay healthy? Here are 5 steps you can easily apply to simplify your health.
You see the pretty photos on Instagram, and nutrition experts eating healthy makes it look so easy, but it definitely isn’t always picture perfect behind the scenes. Especially when you’re putting together a recipe, taking photos, editing, and writing an article…it can take a full on day. Not to mention all the work that takes place behind the scenes to keep a blog running.
We can end up spending hours in the kitchen cooking and cleaning, or a full day on our laptop only to be so wiped out by the end of the day that dinner is just…hmmm takeout.
Jenni, a full time mom, and Mirna, working for the CSNNAA, Naughty Nutrition was a really just a side biz and passion project that we’re frantically trying to turn into a REAL biz with a steady income, so life is pretty busy.
Having busy lives means that even though we’re in the wellness industry, our own personal health can often become overlooked if we don’t tune in. Sometimes there’s trouble balancing healthy, home cooked meals with the lives we are living.
That’s why we needed to find a way to simplify our health, and add nutrition back into our lives in an easy way.
A way that has us spending less time prepping and cooking food.
A way that allows us to budget our time, our money, and reduce our food waste without even thinking about it.
A way that we could remove the stress associated with negative food perceptions, and just live a balanced life without guilt if we did happen to order in, eat out or opt for a frozen dinner.

We get told too often that the struggle to stay healthy is very real for a lot of people, especially when life becomes very very real. So, we decided to ditch the perfect smoothie bowls, and the elaborate ‘healthy meals’, and focus on the very basics of what health means to us.
Balance, eating nourishing foods, enjoying food, and being happy.
That’s why we created a simple signature 5 step plan designed to simplify your health.
We’re not saying these 5 simple steps are ALL you need to be healthy. Everyone is different and everyone has unique needs. Some may need to avoid grains or gluten, and others may find that something as simple as almonds make them feel sick. We definitely get that too.
But, once we started to avoid the noise of:
- Cutting out gluten, sugar and dairy inevitably (unless medically necessary)
- Crazy supplementation regimen
- Buying incredibly expensive foods and powders
- Elaborate meals and meal plans
- Avoiding packaged foods
- Feeling guilty for falling ‘off’ the plan of tracking and counting
And removed the complications from it all, it became clear that these 5 simple steps were exactly what we needed to go back to when trying to apply health and wellness to the busy lifestyle.

SIMPLIFY YOUR HEALTH WITH THESE 5 STEPS
Step 1: Learn How To Cook Simple Healthy Food
You might be able to fit in 30 minute meals into your life, but you might also always be stuck in the same Pinterest rabbit hole of high dairy, meat, wheat and non-food recipes.
These recipes may be delish and can definitely have a place in a healthy diet, but adding ranch packets and half a block of cheese to your everyday cooking isn’t always the healthiest option. The trick is learning how to cook healthier, while still applying the D factor (delicious) and keeping it really simple.
Step 2: Learning How To Buy The Healthiest Processed Foods
This is one of the most important parts of keeping up to your healthy habits, and something that a lot of people struggle with. BUYING FOOD!
Seriously, you would not think that this is the best place to start, but learning how to actually read a nutrition label, what processed foods to buy, which ones to avoid, and how to navigate a grocery store is massive when it comes to creating healthy habits that last for life.
Is your grocery cart mostly produce and bulk? If not, this might be an area to work on.
Step 3: Learn How To Enjoy Your Life And Eat Without Giving Everything Up
Again, Whole30 and Keto may be successful short-term, but we’re not in the business of giving you short-term solutions.
Cutting out food may not be the best place to start if you’re struggling to even leave the grocery store without a cart full of highly processed foods.
You have to be able to find balance in your life, and all or nothing usually only works best when you have health issues that you are trying to heal.
Step 4: Learn How To Not Sweat The Small Stuff, But Also To Make Sure You Sweat
Are you stressed? Is getting fit something you tell yourself you will do tomorrow? Do you have a hard time finding time for yourself?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, focusing on reducing that stress load and getting some movement into your life will be HUGE for long-term success.
It doesn’t have to be hard, simple exercise programs that match your busy lifestyle needs, and simple stress-busting solutions that help you manage the to-do lists with ease become so valuable when learning how to simplify your health.
Step 5: Learn To Listen To Your Body
You may know about intuitive eating, and while our signature health plan is very similar to the intuition method, we like to provide you with the tools to teach you HOW to start listening to your body, so you can really nourish it with what it’s asking for.
Intuitive eating helps you balance those nights out, plates of nachos, big ass burgers and greasy spoons with nutrient dense, plant-based meals that are loaded with veggies.

Great article to remind us what is important, we often get caught up in the newest trends but by adhering to your 5 steps is all we need! Thanks!
P.S. I especially love #2 learning to buy processed foods… I always stress to my clients, ignore the claims on the label and read the ingredients, you should not need my chemistry degree to interpret! lol.
Hahaha Lucy exactly 🙂 It’s so important because it’s the real life for most of us, and packaged foods make it easier. It’s good that we have many more healthy options these days!
